(Return to current news)

I recently did an interview for The Lumper. Have a look, and check out all the other great posts on The Lumper. Mr. Thinkmule picks great stuff. I'm honored to be there!

I'll have a bunch of work in the City Slickers show at Wessel Snyman Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa in April. I wish I could be there for that.

I'm in the movies! Russian film maker Yaroslav Dobronravov (Dob) used some of my art in several scenes of his new film entitled Rafail Pirone. Here's a link, to some screen shots from the film.

I had two paintings in a juried show called CHROMATOSE at Nudashank Gallery in Baltimore. I went to the opening, took pictures of the great art, and met nice people. You can see the pictures here on Fecal Face.

Wanderlust Gallery in England recently put together a cool group show. I was in the show with 32 other artists. The show was called The Wanderlust 333. It was online and in the gallery simultaneously, and prints of any piece in the show could be bought in three different sizes at three different prices. Pretty cool.

Two group shows where I'll be showing 20 works on paper (10 at each show) will be opening in December. One is Heady Mugs at Nudashank Gallery in Baltimore. The other is Fresh Produce at A.D. Gallery in San Jose. Here's a link to the pieces I'll have at A.D. Gallery.

2010 off to a Great Start! I have pieces in two group shows in January: "Odd Populi" at POVevolving Gallery in Los Angeles curated by John Casey, and "Into the Ring, Sumo-style" at SOMArts Cultural Center in San Francisco curated by MariNaomi.

So then I went to San Francisco.

s I had several of my recent pieces on wood at the Mark Milliken Gallery in New York City, at 1198 Madison Avenue (between 87th and 88th). Here's a link to the pieces I recently had there. If you're in New York, try to have a look.

Photons released their debut EP and I did the art for the cover and for the CD itself. I think it looks very cool, and the music is excellent Bay Area guitar pop. Here's a photo I took of the package, but you really need to get one for yourself!

Meighan O'toole keeps a cool art blog called my love for you is a stampede of horses. She recently featured some of my art here. Have a look at her other posts. There's lots there, and it's all so good!

Some new collaborative work with Timothy Buckwalter is here and also here. Also, I posted a bunch of new drawings, most of which have a sort of literary angle, sort of, here.

The Beltane issue of CRIT Journal has just been published. A written piece of mine called The Thousand Drunkard Suicides is there. Also, the cover image for the issue is one of my paintings called The Functions of the Shaman. There are five other excellent writers there also. I think it all looks great. Have a look.

So now I have a music label and my first CD. No, really! I do! Have a look here.

Timothy Buckwalter asked me to write something about art, so I wrote something about Paul Klee (my all-time favorite?), and here it is on the KQED web site. Also, I made a wall collage from one of Timothy's big drawings and some of my stuff that was lying around in my studio. I think it looks pretty cool.

In South America, autumn is on its way in, and Ruby Magazine (out of Buenos Aires) has a new issue online. Some of my art is featured along with work from seven other artists from around the world. Ruby Magazine is great, and I am so happy to have my work featured here with so many talented artists. Have a look at the back issues while you're at it.

Mr. Atkinson has a great site of DIY art stuff at caferoyal.org. I have some handmade zines For Sale on the site. One is called The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and the other is called It Is Hard for thee to Kick Against the Pricks. You can take a peek at them here and here.

I have a few drawings in a new book entitled Manuscribbles published by Anteism in Vancouver. Ryan Thompson has lots of great things going on all the time at Anteism. Have a look at their site. You can buy a copy of Manuscribbles there ($12). It's 70 B&W pages, with lots of great artists in it. Here's a link to the drawings I have in the book.

I have two stories published in the 2008 issue of Backbone Mountain Review. The titles are "Song for the Peasant-Minded" and "My Bowels Are A Dog-Wolf". If you actually wanted to read them, I have them posted in the writing section.

I had a solo show called Futurology at Bucheon Gallery, located at 389 Grove St. in San Francisco. The show ran all of November and December. Here are some photos of my installation for the show.

OK, I finally got my act together and put together some Flickr slideshows of the work I did last year as an artist-in-resdence at The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA). Click on these! Photos I took and Photos taken by others

I put up three new pages in the Drawing section. One is sort of a "drawings on photos and photo collage with a porn smut sort of thing going on" sort of thing, and the rest are just your basic sort of skritchy drawings, although one of them is about 2 feet long, horizontal that is. You can see them here and here and here.

The new issue of Midway Journal is online, and several of my "lit" cartoons are published here. And there are more of them on my own site here.

I had a couple pieces in the Monster Show that opened October 26 at Domy Books in Houston. I had the bottom two monsters from this page in the show.

I had a two-person show called Sci-Fi Love Life that opened June 15 at Hotcakes Gallery in Milwaukee. The show was with Ric Stultz. Hotcakes was recently honored as Milwaukee's Best Art Gallery. I think I agree. It's a great space. Here are some photos of my stuff there, and of opening night.

I had two drawings in the Anonyme Zeichner show at Bluetenweiss Gallery in Berlin, Germany. Also, one of my drawings was selected to be in the show's catalog! This one.

I had a two-person show called Saved! in March at Receiver Gallery with Jake Watling. Fecal Face has some photos from the opening here. Many of the pieces in the show are currently for sale on the Receiver Gallery web site. Click here.

Anonyme Zeichner show update: A selection of work from this show (including my drawings!) is now taveling around Europe. The first stop wass Galerie LINDA in Hamburg.

For November I was in a group show called Non Sequitur. It was curated by Sacha Eckes. The show was at Ritual at 1026 Valencia St. in SF, CA. This is one of my paintings on the left side of the flyer for the show. I had three pieces in the show, the first three on this page. Other artists in the show were Micke Tong, Timothy Buckwalter, Nancy Elliott, Christopher Jernberg, Paul Madonna, Brion Nuda Rosch, Ifton Schlinger, Fred Rinne, and Mike Monteiro.
Kick Out The Jams -- that's the name of the show for the new issue of Hot and Cold Magazine. The show opening is Friday, May 9, 2008, 6-8pm at the Luggage Store gallery at 1007 Market Street (near 6th St.) in SF, CA. I'm very glad to be in the show and in the new issue of the magazine. There are lots of great artists included. The show runs until June 14th. I have several pieces printed in the magazine and one of my watercolors in the show, this one: Portrait of Nagarjuna (the Buddhist philosopher, not the Bollywood actor)

My art was featured on the Manufactured Dissent web site. Click here to read the interview.

I did this illustration for The Chicago Reader as part of their Annual Fiction Supplement. You can see the web version here.

I have these drawings (and others) in the 2007 issue of Clip Tart. This is a great zine. Email here to get one: cliptart@gmail.com

I have art in a couple group shows. I have this painting in "Pin Ups: Celebrating the Female Form" at She Art Gallery in Oak Park, IL in February. The other is "Trafik" at Line Art Center in Miami/South Beach in January. I haven't decided yet, but I'll probably be sending one of these.

Exit Strategy #2 has just been published. This is a great publication. You should go here and buy copies for everyone you know. I have these two drawings in it. Exit Strategy had some release parties, too: Saturday, November 18th at Receiver Gallery in SF and Saturday, December 9th at Junc Gallery in LA.

I got my face in the October '06 issue of Juxtapoz for a litte press on the "Fanatical Attics" show. Oh, the Humanity!

I was recently in the group show "Fanatical Attics" (with a full-page ad in Juxtapoz!) with six other artists at On Six Gallery in San Francisco. Click here to see some blurry photos I took of my chunk of the wall.

I recently posted a bunch of new drawings here.

For the month of May, I had this painting in the group show Collabo at Space Gallery in San Francisco.

Aaron at Abide Visuals has curated an art exhibit to be shown at the UNITED Tradeshow in Las Vegas in February. I was invited and sent this 7ft. tall hideous monster to the show.

In October I put together a small solo show called Not Home at the Kalorama Guest House in Washington, D.C. Click here to see some blurry cell phone photos I took.

There's a new newspaper in College Park, Maryland called The College Park Observer. I have this cartoon in the first issue.

Five of my paintings are featured in the current issue of Potion Magazine. I think I like this one the most.

My 10 tiny paintings for the Human Pixel Project were shown with many others in a show in April at the Three Columns Gallery at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA).

My hand-made books "Hell Is Other People" and "Some Serious Ass Munching" are for sale at Needles & Pens (3253 16th Street, SF CA).

I was a featured artist on the HOARD Magazine web site. The piece features a bit of both my art and writing. Have a look here.

In May (2005) I had a solo show at National Product in SF. It was called "The Glory Is Totally Me". Here are some pictures from the opening.(Scroll down about 1/3 of the page.)
