So I stopped the $20 Drawing Project at 50 drawings. You can see them all here on the blog. My next project is coming soon, and it will involve painting. I guess I’ll need to rename the blog! Say tuned!

For Theo Konrad Auer. This actually started out as a portrait of Edward R. Murrow, but then I started drawing Walter Cronkite on top of that. I’m not sure who it is now, but I think maybe it looks a bit like Theo himself. The text is several lines taken from Theo’s poem We Now Bring You This.

Linda Holland requested a drawing with color containing trees and stars, a crescent moon, water, lotus blossoms, a falcon, and otters with this passage from The Desiderata: “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” I think I got it all in there.

Jennifer Browne told me Ellie wanted an elephant shrew in a fu manchu moustache dancing with a cat in a handlebar moustache. I dressed them up a bit, and added a squirrel playing the fiddle.

Nip Rogers requested “one of your typical monster heads – a goofy-looking one.” The goofy ones are easy; they’re all self-portraits. I did this one with pastels, kind of a goofy medium for me!
